Stop Worshipping Humans: Your Spiritual Leaders, Celebrity, or Crush Is Just Like You

In many religious circles, a recurring pattern emerges—people elevate their spiritual leaders to an almost untouchable status. They see them as infallible, treating their words as absolute truth and sometimes even prioritizing them over personal relationships. In extreme cases, this devotion leads people to distance themselves from family and friends who don’t share the same level of admiration for these leaders. This phenomenon is more widespread than we often acknowledge.

Respecting spiritual leaders is important. They offer guidance, provide encouragement, and often play a crucial role in personal growth. However, there’s a fine line between respecting someone and placing them on a pedestal where they are beyond reproach. No matter how knowledgeable or charismatic a person is, they are still human—capable of making mistakes, having flaws, and experiencing personal struggles.

A title, whether it be ‘pastor,’ ‘prophet,’ ‘imam,’ or ‘spiritual father,’ does not make someone superhuman or grant them exclusive access to God. If you believe in God, you must also trust that your connection to Him is just as valid and meaningful as anyone else’s. You don’t need a middleman to experience divine guidance or personal revelation.

This mindset extends beyond religious figures. Society often glorifies celebrities, influencers, politicians, and business moguls, attributing to them an almost mythical status. People admire them for their achievements, wealth, looks, or power, sometimes to the extent that they feel inferior in comparison.

But at the end of the day, no matter how successful or famous someone is, they are still human. They experience joy, pain, confusion, and struggles just like everyone else. They don’t possess a special quality that makes them fundamentally superior to others. Their circumstances may be different, but their humanity remains the same.

Recognizing this reality can be incredibly liberating. It shifts your perspective and reinforces an important truth: you are not beneath anyone. Your life, your dreams, and your voice matter just as much as anyone else’s. While it’s perfectly fine to admire others, it’s equally crucial not to devalue yourself in the process.

Instead of idolizing others, focus on personal growth and self-confidence. Learn from people’s experiences, respect their knowledge, but never lose sight of your own worth. Live your life fully, embrace your individuality, and trust that you are enough just as you are.

  2. I 💯 agree, it's essential to remember that everyone has their strengths and weaknesses, and rather than worshipping others, we should strive to emulate their positive qualities and learn from their experiences. 💞🙏
